Before working on a pastel it is preferable that I visit the location to work on colour sketches and consider various views and possibilities. As a landscape artist I like to see and feel the atmosphere of the surrounding area in order to facilitate my emotional involvement in the work. At this stage I take many photographs and select those suitable to send to you for discussion and approval. Only then will the work begin on the pastel.
My local framers at Kadinsky Art in Narberth, make beautiful frames using acid-free materials and individual moulding to suit the work. These frames are reasonably priced and as they are available locally, may be chosen and discussed with me and the staff at Kadinsky. Alternatively Paul Fischbacher (my framer in Huddersfield) uses linen-wrapped mounts and hand-finished frames which are a work of art in themselves. They may seem quite expensive but in my opinion are well worth the extra outlay.
My prices, for commissioned work, range from £600 to £3000 depending on the subject, size of work, and time involved. I am very happy to discuss these details with you and would then be able to give you an idea of framing costs.
The size of work can be discussed to best suit the subject and available hanging space. The framing costs would vary from £75 to £200, for a Kadinsky frame, and from £150 to £350 for a Fischbacher frame. You may also of course use your own picture framer.
